Istanbul, 26 October- This was the last day of the Ferrari Racing Days at the Istanbul circuit, featuring the penultimate round of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Daniele Di Amato (Motor Piacenza) came out on top in race 2 in the Pro category, while Alessandro Vezzoni (Rossocorsa-Pellin Racing) won the Am class. The second of the Coppa Shell races was won by Jacques Duyver (Motor Piacenza.)
Throughout the day, fans of the Prancing Horse were able to enjoy watching free practice sessions for cars making up the XX and F1 Clienti programmes, run by the Corse Clienti Department, as well as a demonstration put on by Scuderia Ferrari test driver Marc Gene, at the wheel of an F60, which was a real crowd pleaser at the Istanbul Park track.
Second in this the penultimate round was Dario Caso (Rossocorsa-Pellin Racing) who crossed the line ahead of Bjorn Grossmann (Octane 126.) Leading the championship overall is still the Italian Daniele Di Amato on 186 points, ten more than Dario Caso.
In the Am category, Martin Nelson (Autoropa) came home second ahead of Alexis De Bernardi (Kessel Racing.) Heading the classification is still the young Argentine, Perez Companc on 141 points, even though he never saw the finish line today, after a collision with Raffaele Giannoni.
As for the Coppa Shell, the runner-up spot went to Dutchman Fons Scheltema (Kessel Racing) ahead of his Italian team-mate Max Bianchi, who heads the classification on 175 points. Thanks to today’s third place, the Kessel Racing man has extended his lead over Scheltema by 24 points and is now on 149.
The 458 Challenge Evo cars will be back on track from 3 to 6 December, outside Europe in the stunning setting of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit, which hosts the Ferrari Finali Mondiali, the traditional party that brings the curtain down on the Prancing Horse racing season.
