Di Amato and Caso ready to put on a show

Maranello, 24 October–After a thrilling round at Silverstone, the Ferrari Challenge is back in action this weekend for its penultimate round, at Turkeys spectacular Istanbul Park track. The series features two categories, the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell. The former is further subdivided into the Pirelli Pro and Pirelli Am.

Pirelli Pro. At Silverstone, Race 1 produced a demonstration of superiority of the top three in the Pirelli Pro classification, with victory going to Italy’s Daniele Di Amato (Motor Piacenza) ahead of Austria’s Philip Baron (Octane 126) and another Italian Dario Caso (Rossocorsa-Pellin Racing.) In Race 2, local boy Alexander Martin (Motor Piacenza) had shone, getting ahead of Caso and Di Amato. The latter heads the points table on 164, 20 more than Caso and 38 ahead of Baron, but with four races remaining, anything can happen.

Pirelli Am. On the famous British track, Race 1 in Pirelli Am saw victory go to Italy’s David Gostner (Ineco MP Racing,) with Argentina’s series leader Ezequiel Perez-Companc (Motor Piacenza) second and Italy’s Alessandro Vezzoni (Rossocorsa-Pellin Racing) third. Race 2 was all about Sam Smeeth (Stratstone Ferrari) back on track, having previously only taken part in the opening round in Monza, which he even won overall. Second was Italy’s Giacomo Stratta (Forza Service) ahead of Belgium’s Florian Merckx (Kessel Racing.) Perez-Companc heads the points table on 124, 29 more than Vezzoni and 31 more than Stratta.
