Silverstone, 12 September - In the Coppa Shell, the category for amateur racers sees two drivers within 2 points of each other at the top of the standings, going into the Silverstone round. It’s an in-house fight within Kessel Racing for overall honours, with Italy’s Massimiliano Bianchi on 103 points to the 101 for Dutchman Fons Scheltema.
In the last round in Portugal, Massimiliano Bianchi drove a fantastic race, having started from the third row, running at a blistering pace which saw him take the won in Race 1 and thus lead the championship ahead of team-mate Scheltema. Further back in third, are Germany’s Dirk Adamski (Saggio Riacing Team) and Eric Prinoth of the Ineco MP team, both on 67 points.
In the Coppa Gentlemen, Fons Scheltema is definitely in a more comfortable position given that he has a 34 point lead over Prinoth and Lovat.
The fight for the championship has still got a long way to go and the fast and thrilling Silverstone circuit is bound to produce plenty of excitement and some surprises too.
