Ferrari Racing Days Fuji 2014 opens at Fuji Speedway

Tokyo, 13th September 2014 – After a long anticipation by Ferrari owners and fans, Ferrari Racing Days Fuji 2014, hosted by Ferrari Japan, opened today to the public at Fuji Speedway.

The first day of the event started with “ROAD to FUJI", a specially-organised rally where Ferrari owners from every Ferrari official dealer network across the country drove from their respective cities to Fuji. The customers hail from as far as Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka and Nagoya. Over 200 Ferrari owners enjoyed the long drive across the island and gathered at Fuji Speedway. They were warmly welcomed by the crowd of Ferrari enthusiasts who arrived at the circuit early in the morning to enjoy the event. The fans indulged themselves in the world of Ferrari by witnessing these fantastic Ferraris, ranging from classic models that have helped create the history of the Prancing Horse to the latest models, arriving at the venue.

Highlights of the festivities throughout the weekend included an array of cars from F1 Clienti and XX Programme, and 5th round of the 2014 season’s Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia Pacific. The fast-paced and gripping atmosphere mesmerized the spectators as the Ferrari Challenge Race took to the track.

On track, spectators saw Max Blancardi from Monaco take the top podium spot for the Pirelli Pro classification while in the Pirelli classification of experienced drivers saw an exciting competition, with Philippe Prette from Hong Kong, taking the honours in Race 1 with an impressive race time of 31:51.306, crossing the finish line ahead of Steve Wyatt from Australia who came in a close second, followed by Ringo Chong in third place.

For the newcomers in the Coppa Shell class, Paul van Loenhout recorded an amazing win in 32:14.182, David Tjiptobiantoro from Indonesia was ranked second place and Vicente Floirendo in third place, crossing the line only 0,06 seconds behind.

Passionate fans were excited to see the stunning limited edition “LaFerrari”, which was publicly revealed for the first time on a circuit in Japan. Other spectacular Ferraris from the latest models to classic vehicles as well as the Ferrari Tailor Made exhibition rooms were packed with visitors who indulged in the world of Ferrari, which can only be experienced at Ferrari Racing Days Fuji 2014.

A series of supercars, including the LaFerrari and Enzo, took to the track to enthral the visitors and fans.

Families with children also experienced Ferrari through various programmes and entertainment such as remote-controlled cars and kid’s play area. Whether it is on or off the track, the first day clearly demonstrates what the Ferrari world has to offer.

During the evening, more than 300 Ferrari owners, their families and friends, as well as Ferrari official partners were invited to a special gala dinner. Guests were mesmerized by the setting which was decorated in shades of Ferrari red. A charity auction was also organised during dinner. Many exclusive items were offered for this auction, including a wall clock signed by Ferrari’s famous drivers and sponsored by Ferrari’s official partner Hublot as well as a special Ferrari-edition champagne from Veuve Clicquot.

Funds raised at the charity auction will be donated to help make children’s dreams come true via Make A Wish of Japan, the foundation that supports children who are diagnosed with critical medical conditions to grant their wishes in the hope of changing their lives.

Ferrari, together with generous Ferrari owners, supported Make A Wish of Japan in 2013 during the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix, for a teenage boy Mustafa Horie, a member of this foundation, a car lover, who is passionate about Formula 1. A real tifosi whose dreams was to see Ferrari in real at the Japanese Grand Prix, a lifetime opportunity to make his dream come true.
The final day of Ferrari Racing Days Fuji will kick off at Fuji Speedway with gates opening to the public from 7:00am tomorrow.
