Brno, 20 June - Under grey and threatening skies, the third round of the Ferrari Challenge Europe got underway at the Brno circuit.
Friday afternoon featured testing and free practice for the drivers to get to grips with the track in the Czech Republic, working on setting up their cars, establishing a race pace and keeping an eye on tyre wear. The track has several high speed corners and gradient changes, which highlight the qualities of the 458 Challenge car and its EVO kit.
Grabbing the headlines on their debut in the Coppa Shell are Corinna and Manuela Gostner, carrying on a family tradition begun by father Thomas and brother David, who have handed over the wheels of their Team Ineco-MP Racing cars to the two youngsters.
Quickest in Trofeo Pirelli Pro was Italy’s Daniele Di Amato (Motor Piacenza) in 2.05.603, while fastest of the Trofeo Pirelli Am runners is Belgian Florian Merckx (Kessel Racing) who stopped the clocks in 2.05.718.
As for the Coppa Shell, quickest was Erich Prinoth (Ineco-MP Racing) who recorded a 2.06.238.
The first Trofeo Pirelli race starts at 14.05 tomorrow, with the 458 Challenge EVOs of the Coppa Shell runners taking to the track for race 1 at 15.55.
