Ferrari Challenge North America makes its return to Laguna Seca

Laguna Seca, 15 May - The North American Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli returns to Laguna Seca in California, with three full days of pure racing exhilaration.  A field of 28 drivers will tackle the 11-turn road course famous for the "Corkscrew" and long history of sports car racing.

Leading the Trofeo Pirelli class with 51 points is Ricardo Perez of Ferrari of Houston who took the checkered flag last month in Race 2 at Sonoma Raceway. The Ockey brothers from Ferrari of Ontario, Damon and Ryan, close the gap in second (46 points) and third place (42 points) respectively. As for the Coppa Shell class, teammates Chris Ruud and Jon Becker (Ferrari of Beverly Hills) have been in close contention all season. Ruud currently stands on first with 79 points and Becker only 5 points behind. Both drivers took the victory in Daytona and Sonoma and are looking for another win this weekend in Laguna Seca. James Weiland of Ferrari of San Francisco, who also stood on the podium on a few occasions this season, follows in third with 49 points.

The race weekend will begin today with five rounds of practice sessions. On Saturday, the Challenge drivers will qualify for the first round of racing, and following suite, will qualify again for the second race on Sunday. Ferraristi are invited to attend the race and enjoy an open paddock area including the Ferrari car corral, only enhancing the Ferrari-festival atmosphere. Advance purchase daily general admission is $20 or a three-day pass is available for $40. General admission and paddock is free for children 12 and under with a paying adult.
