Ferrari Challenge – Ockey and Ruud triumph at Daytona

Daytona, 25 January – The Canadian Damon Ockey (Ferrari of Ontario) and the American Chris Ruud (Ferrari of Beverley Hills) came away winners of the second race of the Ferrari Challenge North America in the Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell respectively. The second race of the first round of the season was never easy to call. The lead changed hands several times, with a three way fight between Ockey and the two Fort Lauderdale drivers, Henrik Hedman and Gregory Romanelli, who eventually finished second and third.

In the Coppa Shell, Jon Becker and Chris Ruud switched places compared to the first race, with this time the latter getting the better of his team-mate at the chequered flag, while the third step of the podium was occupied by James Weiland (The Auto Gallery.)

At Daytona, it’s time for the 24 Hour race, the opening round of the new USC series, with the Ferrari 458 GT cars in the running for class wins in both GTLM and GTD. The second round of the North American Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will take place from 25 to 27 April at the Sonoma track in California.
